Internet Strategy and Web Services
Johns Hopkins Medicine websites are designed to provide a single branded and credible source of information about clinical services, faculty activities, and other enterprises.
A faculty and department web sites often is a patient's first encounter with Johns Hopkins. To avoid confusion about faculty affiliation and to protect and strengthen the Hopkins brand in patient care, education, and research it's essential that individual faculty sites have a uniform structure and look and feel.
Johns Hopkins Medicine Internet Strategy and Web Services is based in JHM Marketing and Communications and is solely responsible for the management of the Hopkins Medicine, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, the School of Medicine, and affiliated Web sites. The staff is responsible for maintaining the architecture, design and coordination of content within these sites. Working closely with Enterprise Services, Internet Strategy and Web Services staff members coordinate all technical aspects of the sites.
Internet Strategy and Web Services staff works on a fee-for-service basis with departments across the institution to ensure accurate representation of departments, centers, divisions and groups within the institution. Working closely with Enterprise Services, Internet Strategy and Web Services staff members coordinate all technical aspects of the sites. The web team continues to work toward moving Hopkins sites higher on search engine, like Google.
If you are considering building a new Web site or redesigning your current site, please make the Web Center your first point of contact before beginning the process. Our staff will be happy to meet with you to help you figure out your best course of action and help you every step of the way.
All faculty web pages and department web sites must follow institutional graphic standards, should be clear and easy to navigate, and should contain appropriate, up-to-date content. Under institutional policy, full-time faculty members may not create or maintain non-Hopkins websites or web sites that represent their Johns Hopkins affiliation other than those maintained by the appropriate department, institute, or center.

Registration of Internet Domain Names
Johns Hopkins Medicine Marketing and Communications manages the registration and renewal of Web site domain names for Johns Hopkins Medicine-affiliated departments, organizations, institutes and centers.
Johns Hopkins Medicine faculty, staff, alumni, students and volunteers should NOT register new domain names. Centralizing the ownership of domain names by Marketing and Communications will ensure continuity of domain name management and renewal as individuals come and go from the organization.
Domain name registrations incorporating the words "Johns Hopkins" or "Hopkins" are the property of Johns Hopkins Medicine and must be registered as such.
